How is Intraocular Lens Treatment performed?
These are the methods used in patients who are not suitable for laser eye surgery. By this technique, a natural lens is replaced by a new intraocular lens through an incision of smaller than 2.5 mm. While this lens can be unifocal, it also can have far, middle or near focus (trifocal). In this way, it is possible for patients to have continuous vision on both far and near sight.
Every patient may not be suitable for this surgical operation. Patient’s work, age, social life, reading habits, intellectual level are also important in choosing patients. Choosing suitable patients, convenient technique, good quality of a lens, the experience of the hospital where the operation is practiced and of the doctor are important for the satisfaction after the operation. The vision reaches the normal level in 1 or 2 days after the operation. By this method, complaints of farsightedness, nearsightedness, and astigmatism can be treated.
