Epiretinal Membrane

Epiretinal Membran

Epiretinal membrane (membrane formation in the eye) is a medical condition where a membrane form on macula, also known as yellow spot. The reasons include diabetes, infarcts, post-retina laser surgical conditions, tumors, and retinal detachment. However, in most of the cases, epiretinal membrane may form without any reason.

Its treatment is vitreoretinal surgery (Retinal Surgery). The criteria for operation is the patient’s visual acuity. The operation isn’t generally performed unless the vision is below a particular level.
