Femto Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery

A cataract is defined as clouding and losing the transparency of the lens. Although it can be seen at any age starting from birth, the most common reason is the ‘aging’ of the lens.

  • Symptoms of Cataract
  • Vision Loss
  • Sensitivity to Light
  • Double Vision
  • Fading of colors
  • Frequent change in eyeglasses numbers
  • Having difficulty with vision at night

In cataract, which is accompanied by vision loss as the most important symptom, the only treatment is surgery.
The purpose of the surgery is improving the quality of vision and life. Therefore, the timing of the operation is directly related to the patient’s life and visual quality.

In our clinic, we practice Femto Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery known as ‘bladeless’ cataract operation in public. In this technique which is practiced by the most modern technology of cataract surgery, the eye is anesthetized only by eye drops. This operation which takes approximately 10 minutes is usually comfortable for the patients. After the operation, our patients can return to their homes immediately and to their daily lives next day.

The advantages of Femto Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery which decreases the rate of complications and practiced by computer-controlled devices in micron-level sensitivity:

  • Corneal cuts into the eye can be properly done without using a blade
  • A very straight and centralized window opens at the anterior capsule of the natural lens.
Therefore, the lens placed into the eye is centralized better in the short and long term.
  • It spends less energy, causes less inflammation and edema due to dissolving the cataract by Femto laser.
  • Astigmatism can be fixed by interfering with the cornea with laser.

Intraocular Lenses

During cataract surgery, artificial lenses are placed into the eye of all the patients except for some rare exceptions. You will decide which type of intraocular lens will be used with your doctor before the operation. Your doctor will advise the most convenient lens for you.

The main lens types used;

  1. Monofocal Lenses: It can be focused on far sight or nearsightedness according to your eye and lifestyle. If your lens focused on far sight, you would require to wear glasses for astigmatism and nearsightedness
  2. Monofocal Toric Lenses: Your astigmatism can be fixed by these lenses. For short sight, you may need to wear glasses.
  3. Multifocal and Trifocal (“Smart”) Lenses By multifocal lenses, your near and farsightedness are fixed. As your far-middle- nearsightedness is fixed by trifocal lenses, “they are also known as ‘smart’ lenses; continuous vision is almost achieved without glasses.
  4. Toric (Astigmatic) Multifocal and Trifocal Lenses: They are the lenses that fix both astigmatism and near -middle- farsightedness.

In our clinic which does not compromise on quality, all of the intraocular lenses are the best in the world in terms of their features and are approved by the FDA.
